Founded in 2001 by brothers Alberto and Diego Cusumano together with their father Francesco, Cusumano has become one of the defining modern producers of Sicily. From its base in Partinico, near Palermo, the family has assembled more than 500 hectares of vineyards across some of the island’s most distinctive growing areas, including Monreale, Ficuzza, Butera and Etna. Rather than building a winery around a single site, the Cusumano vision has always been to capture the diversity of Sicily through estate-owned vineyards matched to the varieties best suited to each terroir. Working exclusively with estate-grown fruit and guided since inception by winemaker Mario Ronco, Cusumano has played a significant role in reshaping perceptions of Sicily from a source of bulk wine to one of Italy’s most exciting fine wine regions.
