Fantini

Montepulciano and more from between the peaks of the Apennines and the breeze of the Adriatic

Fantini Wines is a modern Italian wine group founded in 1994 in Ortona, Abruzzo, built on an innovative model that prioritises vineyard quality over ownership. Established by Filippo Baccalaro, Valentino Sciotti and Camillo De Iuliis — often referred to as “the three dreamers” — the company set out to create a leading Southern Italian wine brand without owning estates, instead collaborating with local growers across key regions. Fantini has grown into one of Italy’s largest boutique winery groups, operating across multiple regions including Abruzzo, Puglia and Sicily, as well as internationally in Spain. The portfolio reflects a wide range of terroirs and indigenous varieties, with a consistent focus on drinkability and regional expression. Central to Fantini’s success is its close partnership with growers, combined with the expertise of a large, specialised winemaking team. This model allows the group to source exceptional fruit while maintaining strict quality control, resulting in wines that balance accessibility with strong regional identity.

Consistent quality at scale: Reliable, well-made wines with strong consistency across vintages.

Strong value-to-quality ratio: Premium presentation and approachable style at competitive price points.

Indigenous varieties focus: Well-positioned to meet demand for excitement through Italian native grapes.

Flagship recognition: Hero wines like Edizione Cinque Autoctoni provide a strong anchor for listings and storytelling.

Grower-model advantage: Access to top vineyard sites without estate limitations, ensuring flexibility and consistent fruit sourcing.
