Le Tense is crafted exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown entirely in the Sassella subzone, on specific south‑facing plots between 300 and 450 metres. During the Swiss rule (1512–1797), these finest plots were “tense”, meaning they were protected by armed guards. These south-facing, extreme plots give forth a particularly elegant version of Mountain Nebbiolo. Fruit was hand harvested, and after a long, slow maceration and fermentation, the wine matured in a combination of larger and smaller French oak for 12 months, followed by further bottle maturation.

Graceful and refined, it opens with vibrant notes of wild berries and blueberry, woven through hints of bitter almond, crushed stone, ash, and gentle spice. It carries the airy, poised character typical of Valtellina Nebbiolo, yet the flavours feel a touch more open and immediately appealing. The tannins, though firm, are wrapped in generous fruit, leading into a smooth and extended finish.
