Medici Ermete Concerto Lambrusco Reggiano DOC

Say goodbye to your 1990s view of Lambrusco. This is dry, 100% organic, single-clone Lambrusco (Salamino), cultivated at yields lower than the average in the Barossa Valley (10 t/ha), produced from a single vineyard (Tenuta La Rampata di Montecchio) then wild-fermented and carbonated using Medici Ermete’s exacting production methods. The wine that both put Medici Ermete on the world stage and showed sceptics that Lambrusco could be serious, this wine wins the coveted ‘Tre Bicchieri’ rating nearly every time it is submitted to Gambero Rosso.

Salamino is a fruity, fleshy and vivacious cultivar, and so you should expect aromatic brightness and freshness in the glass, with plenty of berry characters across a medium-bodied palate. With just 9g/L sugar, this is drier than most Prosecco wines, but the fruitiness keeps the wine forward and delicious. Described by Jeff Porter of Wine Enthusiast as a wine that “can only bring smiles”, and noted for its uncanny versatility with food, this wine can take you across traditional ingredients and plates from Bologna, through cured meats, dim sum, barbecued meats, game roasts, vegetarian risottos and even pub meals.

Tre Bicchieri, Gambero Rosso 2024
96 points, Luca Maroni

“Inky dark-violet notes, both fresh and dried, dominate the nose, accompanied by an abundance of plum and blackberry aromas. On the palate, rich, succulent, and mouthwatering black cherries and currants take center stage, creating a wine that truly tastes you back. Zippy acidity and fine tannins provide a well-balanced structure, making this Lambrusco a delightful and engaging” 92 Points, Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast
