Nino Negri Mazèr Valtellina Superiore DOCG

A 100% Nebbiolo, Mazér comes from vineyards facing south-east to south-west at 300–500 metres, rooted in shallow sandy‑loam soils supported by dry‑stone terraces. Its name, meaning “distinguished” in the Valtellina dialect, reflects both its character and the long winemaking tradition of the estate, active in the region since 1897. Grapes are selected from across the valley to achieve optimum balance, with a small portion briefly dried to concentrate flavour. This portion is then blended back in, adding dark‑fruit richness and softening the tannins.

The final wine expresses the valley’s varied geology, altitude and steep terracing, resulting in a classic, alpine‑style Valtellina Superiore. It shows a bright garnet colour with ruby highlights; a pronounced nose of blackberry, bilberry, liquorice and subtle spice; and a dry, flavourful palate framed by elegant, velvety tannins.
